Masha Dimitri's
first solo programme "Rehearsal room" was first performed
in 1997.
The scene takes place in a bare
rehearsal room, maybe in New York City. It's a room you
can rent for $ 9 an hour. The users are artists,
musicians, dreamers succeeding one another in trying out,
practicing something all on their own and improving it
until it works.
They work patiently and
tenatiously to realize the work that has taken hold of
their minds. If they fail they are confused and at a
loss, but they pick themselves up and start anew, as if
it were the first time.
This quiet parade of
endless drudgery and occasional success becomes a small,
bashful world theatre ending in impish but nonetheless
restrained high spirits.
